My name is Kelvin Smith, I am the creator and founder of MARTIAL ARTS FOR OVER 50s an exercise and wellness programme for People over the age of 50.
Many years ago I was a professional dancer, working with groups like Run Dmc, and on numerous tv, and fashion shows, for the likes of Adidas, Puma to name but a few. I remember being on stage with Run DMC at an Adidas show-thinking look at this a young boy from London living his best life
Then my world came tumbling down, I sustained an injury bringing to an end my dancing and choreographic Career. I went from traveling around the world to sitting on my sofa at home drinking beer and sporting a stomach that would rival any pregnant woman, I had lost the will to do anything meaningful and had stopped do any form of exercising at all.
I thought to myself there has to be more than this? I have a family that needs me, and I still have so much to give, so I began researching ways to get back my physical fitness’s and improve my overall wellbeing.


During my path back to fitness, I discovered Martial arts, and after dancing, i did not think I would find another form of movement that I would fall in love with, so for the next 10 years I trained under the fantastic European Godfather of JKD, Guru Bob Breen, and senior instructor Paul Clarke obtaining my Black belt.
Part of staying strong in our later years is to keep muscle mass and maintain our Flexibility, along with a healthy diet, which sounds easy, but we know, as we get older, we create any number reason why we cannot get to the gym.
That’s when I came up Martial arts for the over50s, which is not just about learning a few punches and kicks, its about strengthen your whole body through coordinated movement and core strengthening exercises .
